APTSFI is an actualization of the founders’ life values. They believe that “when it is in your power to give, give!”
But early on in their lives, there was nothing to give. They were raised in simple families, had known hard work helping their parents in fishing and farming, understood hunger, and were faced with compromised futures because of the lack of financial sustenance for college. Nevertheless, the big goals they nurtured in their minds and hearts were pursued with undying determination. Adversities did not discourage them but further fueled their resolve to rise up to the challenges. After so much struggles, they soon graduated both with Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degrees from National University and thereafter passed the Board Examinations. Their good start as employees was cut short though as their company folded up during the Asian Financial Crisis. They were thus forced to put up a construction company, DDT Konstract Inc. (DDTKI). They had a difficult and slow start but with resoluteness and their deep trust in God, the company soon experienced unprecedented growth which later gave birth to other companies. Today, the DDTKI Group of Companies has a workforce of more than 22,000.
Despite their success in life and their capability to help now, the Tamayo couple never fail to go back to their roots. They would never forget where they came from and always remember the lesson left by the death of the father of Engr. Danilo. And so they do everything that they can to help the needy through the Foundation.
APTSFI was envisioned to help uplift the welfare of the less privileged in the Philippine society. It helps reduce the effects of poverty through its strategic programs which cater to the customized needs of society. These programs are designed to be holistic, long term, and emphatic.
The foundation was registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on April 12, 2010, with Engr. Danilo as Chairman, Engr. Cynthia as Treasurer and Engr. Andrea Marie T. Ulep as President. On February 15, 2011, the Foundation was granted a Certificate of Registration by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and started its operation with two regular staff. It initially focused its attention on programs that made immediate impacts on the lives of people affected by poverty, the increasing number of out-of-school youth and malnourished children, and helpless victims of natural calamities. These included the Handog Edukasyon (College Scholarship), and Sagip Malnutrisyon (Feeding Program), Sagip Buhay (Relief Operation). The Foundation has remained faithful and committed to helping make a better future for our less fortunate countrymen.
The Chairman’s hometown of Buguey, Cagayan as well as the whole province of Cagayan were the pilot areas of the APTSFI’s programs.
